Right and Wrong Thinking
Thursday Jan 31, 2019
Thursday Jan 31, 2019
Many people have a false understanding about Christianity because they think the wrong thoughts about it. It is more these false notions that are to blame for a poor experience of Catholicism and Christianity than that the teaching of Christ found in them are false.

Who You Are in Christ
Wednesday Jan 30, 2019
Wednesday Jan 30, 2019
Why should anyone be a Christian at all? Is the only benefit about knowing that when you die you will go to heaven or is there more?
While it is true that the gospel is a message about our salvation from eternal damnation, it is also a message about how we can live a life overcoming sin and various bad situations in our lives because God is for us.

Growing in Faith
Tuesday Jan 29, 2019
Tuesday Jan 29, 2019
Is faith something that causes change or is it an attitude that believes in things that cannot be seen? The simple answer is that when we believe we perceive the world in a way that makes spiritual realities something we experience in our everyday lives.

Restored to Fellowship
Monday Jan 28, 2019
Monday Jan 28, 2019
when we sin we lose the place that we could have of fellowship with God. It is because of sin that many people have a religion rather than a relationship with God. But, because God desires fellowship, a relationship, He makes it possible for us to be forgiven and restored to fellowship through the sacrament of reconciliation.

Order and your place
Sunday Jan 27, 2019

Today's readings cover two related topics. The first from Nehemiah and the Gospel we find the basis for the way we do the Liturgy of the Word and why Communion follows the proclamation of the Word.
The second topic reveals why certain people do certain things and others can't. It is because there is diversity in the body of Christ. For instance, why are men and not women allowed to be priests? It is because not everyone can be an eye or a mouth. The body of Christ needs all it's separate parts to function and not try to be something it is not. God created individuality, not robots that fit a cookie cutter.

More than A prayer declaration
Saturday Jan 26, 2019
Saturday Jan 26, 2019
What does it mean to make a confession of faith unto salvation like Romans 10:9-10 declares we must do? Does it mean to make a sinners prayer? Or maybe it means to just make some kind of declaration of Christian faith? Are all these things necessary for salvation or the means by which we acquire the salvation that comes to us from God?
Simply as Catholics, we believe that there is an ongoing work of salvation that each one of us must participate in. It is something that begins with our baptism and continues throughout the remainder of our lives until we die and go before the judgment seat of Christ. To many Protestants, this seems to be a works styled solvation. Yet one of their core Scriptures in Romans, specifically the declaration from Romans 10:9-10, it would appear that there is some act that each one of us must do in order to be saved. This act is more than just a prayer declaration of faith. It is a continual work that we must mix with our faith in the sense that James talked about in his second chapter in order for faith to not be dead. To truly have a living faith and that is our topic today.

Called Not Convertd
Friday Jan 25, 2019
Friday Jan 25, 2019
Today is the Feast of the Conversion of St Paul. It is a day in which throughout the Catholic world we consider just how Paul the Apostle while on the road to Damascus Experienced a life-changing event that turned a persecutor of the faith into it's greatest champion.
Yet, when we consider the way Paul talked about this event, we come to see that he did not regard it as a conversion event, but rather as a prophetic call. Paul was not one who abandoned his Jewish faith for a Christian gospel. He saw rather a call to bring in the nations (i.e. Gentiles) into the one family of God that is now the Church.

Believing in Spiritual Realities
Thursday Jan 24, 2019
Thursday Jan 24, 2019
Faith trust in God and believes in spiritual realities. Realities that are just as real as you table and chair or any other physical thing you can think about. This is why faith is the evidence of things not seen. It is ut realizing something beyond the senses and holding on to that reality, because of the relationship we have with God.

Believing with the Heart
Wednesday Jan 23, 2019
Wednesday Jan 23, 2019
In both Romans 10: and Mark 11:23 we are told that we must believe with the heart but what does this mean? Are we to believe with some part of our anatomy or from a particular part of our being? The answer lies in knowing that we ought to believe as an act of our wills, determining to believe God completely and without a reservation at all.
