Father of Two
Sunday Mar 31, 2019
Sunday Mar 31, 2019
Today's reading contains one of the most famous parables in the entire Bible. The story of the Prodigal Son. But, this story is not about the one son, it is about the Father, it is about both sons, it is about us.
If we really understand the feasting that we are called to with every Mass, we would see that Christ our Passover is that provision of a fatted calf that we receive as children of a loving Heavenly Father.

Decide to Change

When it comes to the gospel, the one fact that remains is that you must cooperate with the grace of God to be saved. This is because God wants a relationship with you. A loving relationship. He does not want you to be a puppet. He wants you to choose to love Him, not be forced to.

Set Free By Truth

Friday Mar 29, 2019
Many will tell you that if the truth will set you free, but few can tell you from what. When Jesus spoke to the Jews in John 8 He made it clear that the freedom He referred to was a freedom from sin. Truth is what converts the sinner and makes them fit for heaven. If you want to overcome your sinful nature you must hear the gospel so that faith can come. But, you also need to do, act on what you hear. For it is not enough to be a hearer only, you must be a doer of the word of truth that you hear (James 1:22).

Overcoming Sin with Truth
Thursday Mar 28, 2019
Thursday Mar 28, 2019
When we look at the book of Judges, we see a simple message about the sin nature that remains in us even after were are born again. A message that this nature remains to test us. To prove whether or not we want a relationship with God or just things.

Jesus the Source of Repentance
Wednesday Mar 27, 2019
Wednesday Mar 27, 2019
When it comes to being penitent all we have to do is look unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. To have a new heart or soul, to repent and cast away sin at all is only possible when we see Him who was crucified and realize that we can reckon our selves dead to sin because of Him.

Forgiven Because We Repent
Tuesday Mar 26, 2019
Tuesday Mar 26, 2019
Can we remain sinful and receive the pardon of God? This is an issue that Paul inquired about in Romans 6:1. And, if we think logically, the answer is simple, no we cannot. Repentance must be part of the faith we have in God. If we continue to sin, our lives make a mockery of grace and reveal that we do not consider our way of living in sin to be something with eternal consequences.

Annunciation and Our Will
Monday Mar 25, 2019
Monday Mar 25, 2019
Today is the Solemnity of the Annunciation. The day in which the Church recalls the Incarnation when the Word became flesh and dwelt among us as a fetus in the womb of Mary. As a result, we see how the Advent/Christmas time points us toward the cross and resurrection because God became a human person and lived among us.
In this dwelling among us, we see that it is obedience that is the true key to everything that Lent and the gospel are all about. Whose will? Is it your will or the will of God that you want to be done on earth as it is in heaven? Is your heaven what you desire or what God desires?

Examining To Find God
Sunday Mar 24, 2019
Sunday Mar 24, 2019
With today's reading, we get told the reason why we have this Lenten season. It is so that we can scrutinize our lives and determine if we truly have found God in the burning bushes of our lives, or if we practice and empty religion that leaves us empty and unchanged.

Seeing our Redeemer
Saturday Mar 23, 2019
Saturday Mar 23, 2019
Our eternal hope is based on the future resurrection that we will experience because of our faith in Christ. But this belief is also the basis for our response to the Gospel. We can believe that we can be saints, live holy and resist being sinful because resurrection power sanctifies us and enables us to cooperate with God's grace.

New Birth and Baptism
Friday Mar 22, 2019
Friday Mar 22, 2019
Have you ever considered how Baptism acts as the means of grace and is not a work that "earns" salvation? Most do not understand this fact because they do not see how a "sinner's prayer" like Baptism does not "earn" salvation but is the means of cooperating with God's grace to affect the outcome of grace in our souls.
