Thursday May 30, 2019
Today is the Feast of the Visitation of Mary to St. Elizabeth. It is a day in which we recall the event of the Second Joyful Mystery, where Mary went to her cousin to aid her during her time of need. It is a day in which we learn about how love is a self-sacrificing thing.

Ascension Thursday
Thursday May 30, 2019
Thursday May 30, 2019
If Christ is lifted up, He will draw all to Him. This is a true statement about Christ that relates to the cross, but it also applies to His Ascension into glory.
We see this with those who teach a gospel focused on the End time. But, Jesus did not want this kind of gospel, He wanted a personal gospel about how He is still with us in the power of the Spirit. He scolded His apostles for asking about the setting up of the kingdom and turned their focus on being empowered and witnessing. For in the witness that the Church gives, we find Christ until He comes again.

When God is Distant

Wednesday May 29, 2019
On the cross, Jesus cried out, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" And we all feel moments in our lives when it would seem that we are abandoned by God. But the reality is that He is still there. We have not been left alone. He is still with us until the end. The only thing that is going on is that He is drawing us closer to Him and away from the world.

Enduring Temptation

Tuesday May 28, 2019
When we love God there will be obstacles to our loving Him that can cause us to give up and never experience what we are called to. One of these things that attempt to prevent us is the things that tempt us into sin. When we learn to draw nearer to God as a result of the things that seek to draw us from Him our relationship with Him grows stronger.

When you truly love someone, you are inspired to something more than just being in love. You see more about their potential and a future that is a lot like a fairy tale ending. And. this is the way we hope in God for all that loving Him inspires in us.
Too often we are left with the disappointment and emptiness that comes from believing and loving creatures that cannot satisfy us that we lose sight of how loving God inspires in us a greater ability to love those around us because of Him. And, it is here that when we learn to love God as completely as we are made to be capable of that love truly hopes for the best in everything.

Today's readings prepare us for the next two great days in the Church's calendar, the Ascension of the Lord and the Decent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. In order to prepare us for these two great days, we read about the peace of God that should result in our lives because of these two great events. A peace that comes from our loving faith in Christ speaking to us through His Church.

Believing Because of Love

Have you ever loved someone so much that you could only see the good in them? There are many mothers who know this kind of love. We see them on the news being defenders of their child after some great tragedy happens in which their baby is believed to have done something horrible.
This is the kind of love we are called to have for God, in His Church. It is not a blind love that does not overlook or excuse evil, like the pedophile scandal. But, it is a love that does not give up on the truths of Christianity that is found and maintained by the Catholic Church because certain members snuck in unaware to all (Jude 1:4). for these are just the weeds among the wheat (Matthew 13:27-30).

Love Obeys
Thursday May 23, 2019
Thursday May 23, 2019
Why are good deeds necessary for our salvation? Because we are called to love God.
Obedience is love in action. It shows that we truly desire what God wants and reveals how much love we have for Him. When we do our own thing or ask God to bless us on our terms and get upset when bad things happen to us "good" people, we miss the true place of faith in God that loves Him no matter

Not Resentful

Have you ever lost your peace and become unhappy because something bad happened? Did someone do you wrong and you could not let it go and get on with loving God because you could not accept what happened? Does God love you so little that you need justice and not more of His love and mercy?
Love is never perfect if it does not let go and let God be God in all things.
