Martyrdom of Peter and Paul 2019
Saturday Jun 29, 2019
Saturday Jun 29, 2019
Today is the day in which we recall the martyrdom of Saints Peter and Paul. It is a day in which we are reminded that we must maintain the faith throughout our entire lives. We do not give up or stop fighting for the faith until our lives are over. As such the readings today remind us of the Church, though always on a war footing, will not be overcome by wickedness.

Sacred Heart of Jesus 2019
Friday Jun 28, 2019
Friday Jun 28, 2019
Today is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As such it is a day in which we think about the great love that God has for us.
We do this simply because the heart is a symbol of love. When we celebrate Valentine's day or write love letters or make pictures with people in love, the heart is always used as that symbol. So today is a day in which we recall that love with the symbol of that love represented in the loving heart of our Savior.

Thursday Jun 27, 2019
When it comes to growing in faith we have both the anointing of the Holy Spirit in our lives and true guides in the Tradition, Scripture and Teaching office of the Church to aid us in this journey. Like branches on a vine, we do not develop on our own. We grow as part of a faith community.

Part of the Deposit

Wednesday Jun 26, 2019
When it comes to our part in maintaining the deposit of the faith, many do not know how important they are to that process. For it is our duty to be caretakers of this deposit and not merely recipients of it. This is how we know that the gospel message that we have received has not been corrupted or will ever be corrupted.

Deposit of Faith Defined
Tuesday Jun 25, 2019
Tuesday Jun 25, 2019
What is the deposit of the faith that Catholics speak of? It is the sum of everything that we recognize to be the Word of God. But, unlike those of the sola scriptura camp, we believe that the deposit of the faith, that is the word of God, is more than just a written book, it is also the Tradition that informs that book.

Nativity of John the Baptist 2019
Monday Jun 24, 2019
Monday Jun 24, 2019
Today is a very important date in the Church's liturgical year. It is the day when we remember the birthday of St John the Baptist. Because it is 6 months to Christmas and John was conceived 6 months before Jesus, we have this day set aside to both look forward to Christmas and to reflect on the importance, not just of St John alone, but to recall just how important each one of our lives are. To think about our potential. And, to realize in knowing the potential every human life has, just how grave abortion To learn more, give us a listen.

Sunday Jun 23, 2019
Who is Christ to you? Is he just a reason you have a good life of ease or the reason you deny yourself for others?
As Christians, we are called to live for others. We are to be willing to suffer and give up what we want for those around us like Christ did when he went to the cross for us. But, what does that really mean?

About Sacred Tradition
Saturday Jun 22, 2019
Saturday Jun 22, 2019
What is Sacred Tradition? Is it the thing that the fiddler on the roof sang about .... "but they love each other... Or is it something else?
For a Catholic Sacred Tradition is something that is as equally the Word of God as Sacred Scripture. It is also the cultural lens through which the written scripture is to be understood.

What is the deposit of the faith? We hear this term used but rarely does it seem that we know exactly what it means. At least until we look at the section of the catechism that we are reviewing today!
