Providence Review

Thursday Oct 17, 2019
As we conclude this section on creation and providence, we are reminded of the fact that all things exist and remain in existence because of the direct activity of God. Because of this God directs all things that happens and brings out something beneficial in everything that happens, even the evil that is caused by people, so that all might come to know Him.

Creation Review
Wednesday Oct 16, 2019
Wednesday Oct 16, 2019
As we reach the in brief section for this part of the Catechism, we review and rediscover what the major topics of our understanding about creation are. We learn first and foremost that creation unveils for us the gospel plan for all that is part of God's original design for us. We learned in this section how God in all the various ways in which we relate to Him, in every Person of the Trinity, was part of the creation of everything. We also learn about our place as creatures and our ultimate responsibility as bearers of His image and likeness.

God of History
Tuesday Oct 15, 2019
Tuesday Oct 15, 2019
Today we are reminded by the Catechism that all things work together for a good. It is not that all things are good, but rather that they will ultimately result in a good. Like Christ being crucified resulted in something far greater than the suffering that Jesus endured.
But, also that this good does not result for all. it only results for those who love God. This is something that we shall only understand when we see God face to face.

Providence and Evil
Monday Oct 14, 2019
Monday Oct 14, 2019
Why did God create a world in the state of journeying? Why is there evil at all? The answer to these questions is answered in everything that we can talk about with our faith in God, but the simpliest answer is found in the reality of how God is able to take even a bad situation and make it a blessing. Much like water can harden some objects, soften others, or transform even others into a thing of enjoyment.

Are you grateful or do you overlook how miraculous your salvation from sin is? Naaman was a man who was moved by his healing from leprosy to convert in faith to the God of Israel. But do you know how marvelous your healing from original sin is? Ten with leprosy got healed by Jesus, yet only one returned. Are you the one, or do you get what you ask for and then abandon the Lord because he was not what you wanted, or need for all eternity?

Saturday Oct 12, 2019
Many people struggle with how God brings about his plan because they do not see how God uses things like prayer and our actions, whether good or evil, to bring about his ultimate results. Too often you will hear it asked, why should I pray if God knows what I need? The answer can be found in sections 307-309 of the Catholic Catechism.

Providence Defined
Friday Oct 11, 2019
Friday Oct 11, 2019
When we look at the order that God made of all creation, and we consider how God continually sustains it, we are led to understand the nature of God's "Providential Care." God has ordered all things to transpire in a very definite way that is ultimately for our greater good. And, this is the greatest reason why bad things happen. It is not that God is cruel, but rather that he sees to all things, even difficult and bad ones, that there is something beneficial in them.
