The Holy Spirit
Saturday Feb 29, 2020
Saturday Feb 29, 2020
After we come to the gospel for forgiveness, we learn that we are brought into the death of Jesus on the cross. This learning that we are crucified with Jesus is the basis of knowing that we died with Him and are raised to a new life. Once we learn, i.e. know, that we are not just forgiven but united with Christ as new creatures, we recognize that we can live anew. We are freed from the weakness of concupiscence to be holy. To be saints. And. this brings us to a point of presenting ourselves to God to serve Him and not our fallen nature. All of these things lead us to learn about the Holy Spirit within us the source of this newness of life that should be our normal Christian experience.

Born By Baptism

The Great Divide is not whether or not you are good or bad, but whether or not you are born again. The gospel for centuries was about a response that began at baptism and was only finalized when you were raised from the dead to live eternally as a new creature.

Who do You Reckon?

What do you consider when you accept that something is an established fact? Is it only scientific realities or do you believe in things because you heard about them from another? If we are honest, we all believe in things that we did not experience and are things that science cannot prove as a fact. And it is in this second way that God asks us to believe, reckon, the things that we know about Him and other spiritual truths.

Reckoning Yourself
Thursday Feb 20, 2020

Knowledge is a good starting point, but it is not enough. Knowing that 1+1=2 is a good thing to know, but it is not enough if I want 2 apples. Abraham was called to believe what he could not perceive. It was not enough that he knew that there were countless stars in the sky, he had to reckon that what God had promised, God was able to do.
