When it comes to believing the truths of the gospel many people seem to think it takes a lot of faith to really believe in the gospel. But, the reality is we can believe and grow in that faith if we only act in a way that cooperates with the grace of God.

Inability and the Gospel
Wednesday Mar 20, 2019
Wednesday Mar 20, 2019
of the many things we hear about when it comes to the gospel is our inability. For many the inability that we have is seen as a natural inability, a born this way philosophy, that ends up excusing sinfulness and makes gospel repentance and living a Christian lifestyle impossible. But, the reality is, that is not what our true fallen state is. For we can when we understand how to respond to grace, cooperate with the Holy Spirit, repent and reform our lives and be branches on a vine.

St Joseph and the Incarnation
Tuesday Mar 19, 2019
Tuesday Mar 19, 2019
Today is the Solemnity of St. Joseph. On this day we take a slight pause in our Lenten reflections and consider the relationship of St. Joseph with Jesus and come to an understanding of our place in the family of God by virtue of the Word becoming human. The dual nature of Christ comes into full view through how St. Joseph is seen as an example for us today and also how faith receives and cooperates with God's gracious gift of salvation that is revealed in the Incarnate Second Person of the Godhead who is a son to St. Joseph.

Transfigured Into a Living Body
Sunday Mar 17, 2019
Sunday Mar 17, 2019
On this Sunday in Lent we see Abram being declared righteous and entering into a covenant with God. At the same time, we see Jesus transfigured with Moses and Elijah. The Abrahamic Covenant belongs to us by faith and it is one we have with others as part of the Communion of Saints.
Are you one with all who are part of this Body of Christ? Does your Lenten reflection allow you to imitate others, even Christ, in being part of this greater community of believers that is the one body of Christ, the Church?

Faith as Repentance
Saturday Mar 16, 2019
Saturday Mar 16, 2019
How do we as Catholics understand salvation? If one really understands the gospel message that we who are Catholic understand, that person would know that salvations beings with an act of God's grace that is unmerited. We do not have a works gospel as is so often reported by many who denigrate the true Catholic faith. In fact, faith is the basis for our acts of penance and how we utilize the sacraments, much like a Protestant utilizes a sinner's prayer and reads their bible daily and lives a committed Christian lifestyle.
In how we as Catholics understand faith, it is the means by which we repent as Jesus commanded in Mark 1:9 and Peter commanded in Acts 2:37. For faith is the way in which we relate to Jesus and live as light in the world (Matthew 5:16).

Grace Through Faith
Friday Mar 15, 2019
Friday Mar 15, 2019
Ephesians 2:8 tells us that we are saved by grace through faith. This reveals the two parts of salvation that each one of us needs to realize and see working in our lives for salvation to be a reality in the gospel sense.
First God must be gracious and provide for us a means of being pardoned without us deserving it, and this is done by the cross of Christ and is offered to us.
Second, we must have faith, cooperate with grace in order to have it operate in our lives. Faith is not a one-time thing but the way we persevere and live a penitent life.

Deliverance From Sin
Thursday Mar 14, 2019
Thursday Mar 14, 2019
The Gospel is not merely a presentation of pardon, but it really is a means of being set free from sin. No story of salvation is complete if the danger never gets removed. If you remain in danger of death, not cured of an illness, can true healing be declared?
Jesus came to save us from our sins. We do not continue to love doing them. Repentance is a natural benefit of the gospel.

Just, And Justifier
Wednesday Mar 13, 2019
Wednesday Mar 13, 2019
In the gospel, God is not only seen as a Just God. He is also the one who Justifies us. It is a thing that He does legally. Have you ever considered just how God could justify someone? It has to do with the cross of Christ and how He sanctifies us through our cooperation with His grace known as repentance.

God Justifies
Tuesday Mar 12, 2019
Tuesday Mar 12, 2019
When we look at the core belief that stands in the very heart of the gospel, it is simply this, It is God who justifies.
It is the refrain of the Pharisees when they mock Jesus for proclaiming the paralytic forgiven. "Only God can forgive sins!" But, God does forgive and it is He who justifies.
