Revelation Complete
Wednesday Jun 19, 2019
Wednesday Jun 19, 2019
In Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith, we have everything that God could ever want us to know about Him in this life. There is no addition or correction (Book of Mormon or Quarn) to this revelation that we have in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is all that there is to any issue that we have in relating to God as we ought.

Progress of Revelation

A quick review of the Old Testament will reveal that God has always tried to have a relationship with each one of us. It started with Adam and Eve in the garden, but because of sin, they had their relationship with God altered in such a way that they were left with a gospel of hope in a future redemption after exile. God continued His reaching out to us with Noah and then Abraham in which He set apart a peculiar people who would be the source of the redemption of God.

A Different Kind of Knowledge
Monday Jun 17, 2019
Monday Jun 17, 2019
There are two different ways of being able to know something about another individual. The first way is the external facts that we can know about them. Like their height, weight and what their birthday is kind of stuff. But then there is the other kind of things that are more relationship based that goes beyond these facts we can know about them that are more revelatory.
In a similar way, we can know certainly that God exists in an external manner, but the more intimate details about God require a second kind of knowledge. A revelatory knowledge that comes from having a relationship with Him

Sunday Jun 16, 2019
On this Trinity Sunday, we reflect on the nature of relationship. This is because the core way in which we can come to understand God as a Trinity is through the ways in which we relate to Him and others.

How we Know and Can Speak
Saturday Jun 15, 2019
Saturday Jun 15, 2019
When one testifies in a court of law they have to know something. When we teach others about math or why it will rain tomorrow we also need to know something. Just as these things are necessary for these areas of life, when it comes to talking about God, we do need to know and be capable of understanding who God is to some degree to be able to relate this to others. And, this is the basis for all religious expressions like that found in the catechism. For we are capable of both knowing and explain God to others, although imperfectly. And that is why we have this podcast and have the Catholic Catechism.

What We Say
Friday Jun 14, 2019
Friday Jun 14, 2019
One of the issues when it comes to religious things is that we can only explain something that is supernatural in a very limited way. When speaking about creation, the ancient people used the language and science of their day to give us the creation stories that as time and science would evolve would prove to not be 100%accurate. This is the way thing is with all things of a spiritual or supernatural nature.
It is almost like when we describe an individual or place to another person who may have never meet or see them. They can get a general idea of that person by giving a description about what they look like, but even with a photograph, there are things that are unknown about that person that such a limited way of revealing them allows us to provide.

Need for Revelation
Thursday Jun 13, 2019
Thursday Jun 13, 2019
If the evidence for God is self-provable, why would God need to reveal anything to us or have a Church instruct us about Him? Simply because without religion we could doubt what we do not want to believe.

Knowing God is Real

One of the first questions in understanding any religious belief is to know if that belief really is rational. At the very core of this is the question, does God really exist? For many, once this question is answered faith is at once possible. So in the very beginning of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we are presented with the "proofs" or ways in which we know that God really does exist.
The one thing that needs to be said about these proofs is that they are not what most would expect them to be or want them to prove, because the proof that God exists is more of a foundational, yes He does, but not a definitive, this is the God that does exist type of evidence.

Desire for God
Tuesday Jun 11, 2019
Tuesday Jun 11, 2019
Why are there so many religions or ways to be spiritual? Is it because we are all expressing our own understanding of the one truth that all of us pursue or is it just proof that we are created by God to desire and know Him?
The answer is simply the last part. We are all created for God. To know Him and be capable of fellowship, a relationship with Him. But because of sin, we all do not know how to find Him as we ought. Our hearts are restless without Him.

To Begin
Monday Jun 10, 2019
Monday Jun 10, 2019
Today on this memorial day of Mary, Mother of the Church, we begin our journey into understanding the Catechism of the Catholic Church with a starting point. All thousand-mile journeys begin with one step, and this journey as well begins with understanding the nature of faith. For before we can know the nuts and bolts about the various doctrines about the faith or why certain things are right or wrong, we must know that first of all our journey is about a relationship between God and us, not just a set of theorems and postulations.
