Monday Nov 18, 2019
Monday Nov 18, 2019
We are called to be at war. It is not a war with any other nation or person, but rather it is a war with our sinfulness. The prize for being successful is heaven, and the cost is damnation in hell.

Corruption of Man
Saturday Nov 16, 2019
Saturday Nov 16, 2019
One of the most universal results of the first sin of Adam and Eve was a corruption of human nature, which we have all received from them, known as original sin. This fallen state is a lot like a handicap that is inherited, but it is something that does not make us totally unable to do good. It is more of a weakening of our nature so we cannot resist evil as we could before.

Seed of Death

Original sin is something not many people properly understand. For many, they get the part about our nature being corrupted by the sin that Adam committed, but they do not understand the full implication or depth to which that sin affects us. But, as we notice in this section of the catechism it is a very real cause of the problem every individual has and is the thing from which we are redeemed or saved from.

Selfish Doubt
Wednesday Nov 13, 2019
Wednesday Nov 13, 2019
As we continue through this section of the Catechism, concerning Sin and the Fall, we come to realize that the first sin, and model of all sins that we actually commit, are based on a rejection of God and an assertion of one's individuality. This is the root of sinfulness that we commit and is the reason why we need a Savior to deliver us from sin.

Fallen Angels
Tuesday Nov 12, 2019
Tuesday Nov 12, 2019
As we begin to understand the evil that is in the world we learn about beings, angels that fell from grace into sin. One of them, known as Satan, is seen as the instigator for our fall into sin and we learn that all sin has an eternal consequence because all actions are permanently historical once they have been committed.

Literally Biblical
Monday Nov 11, 2019
Monday Nov 11, 2019
When it comes to understanding the first couple of chapters in the bible, those found in the book of Genesis, we get a figurative account of the fall of humanity. It is done so we know of a historically real event, but in a way that it could be passed on to all throughout the centuries. But, because Catholics recognize that the account is told in the form of an ancient story, many say that Catholics do not accept the Fall as recorded in Genesis 3 as a factual or historical event. But this is not true because we Catholics are more literal than they give us credit for being.
